Podcast
A podcast is a multimedia file created by a podcaster and made available to podcast subscribers on the Internet for automatic download using a podcatcher. Podcasts use RSS or Atom syndication formats and typically cover one topic area in a series of shows that contain audio and/or video content. The term "podcast" originated by combining two popular words – “iPod”, the most recognizable portable audio device at the time the term was coined in 2004, and “broadcast”. Contrary to the term's origin, neither an iPod nor over-the-air broadcasting is required to create or listen to a podcast. A list of podcasts can be found in a podcast directory sorted by topic.
